During stage 2 of our COVID response (30/3/2-31/5/20), Civil Fire technicians will not complete inspection of fire safety equipment inside units unless the resident has opted-in to our inspection PRIOR to our scheduled inspection.

In lieu of inspection by technician, Civil Fire has developed Self-Test Instructions for residents.

These self-tests do not cover all aspects of our fire inspection, however, we believe under these circumstances, these tests will ensure a reasonable degree safety (fire safety and COVID-19 safety) for residents.

Smoke Alarms

Smoke alarms save lives!!!! You are strongly encouraged to do this test.

A yellow can of smoke will be left in the entry lobby of your building to facilitate the test.

Fire Doors

Over-The-Phone Assistance

Call us on 02 9906 1626 if you’d like over-the-phone assistance to complete your self-test.

Civil Fire team members are on hand business hours (Monday-Friday 800am-400pm).

Assumptions for Self-Test

Civil Fire has undertaken an inspection of this building in previous years. Therefore, the following assumptions have been made:

  1. Perimeter gaps on doors are acceptable, and the door has the required fire-rating.

  2. Smoke alarms are installed in appropriate locations.
